May is Here!

Dear Parents and Students,

Here we are in May and we have a full calendar.

The PTA has finished up Original Artworks. Special thanks to Courtney McGregor for making this event a success! It was a very successful program and the artwork our students created was simply astonishing.

Many thanks to the GBE Librarian and all her volunteers for the wonderful Buy One Get One Free Book Sale. It is really nice getting books into the hands of our students. Our readers will be busy this summer!

The Plant sale is over and the PTA would like to thank Jackie Burkholder and Rebecca Coleman. Plant Pick-up is on Thursday, May 10 after school. Ouestions: Contact Jackie at jackie_b_henn@cox.net

Teacher appreciation Week is May 7- May 11. Many Thanks the amazing staff who dedicate so much to our students at GBE. Wednesday is the PTA Staff Luncheon catered by the PTA. We have over 40 people signed up to bring desserts! A special shout of grattitude to the parents coming to help prepare and serve the meal. We couldn't do this without you! The PTA has a theme for each day so let’s have fun with this!

Monday: Bring your teacher a flower! It could be one you picked from your yard or make one.
Tuesday: Write your teacher a “Thank You” note or draw your teacher a picture.
Wednesday: Staff Luncheon – PTA hosts luncheon and parents provide desserts.
Thursday: Donate a new or gently used book to the class library.
Friday: Bring your teacher a special treat of your choice or give the teacher a compliment.

May 12, 2012 The GBE Day of Fun is in 3 parts: Fun Run, Carnival and SIlent Auction!: You've saved the date, May 12, 2012, now it is time to sign-up to be a part of this special day!

Fun Run! This is the 8th Annual Fun Run. REGISTRATION http://www.fcps.edu/GreenbriarEastES/funrun.html Early Registration will be extended to Friday, May 4. Fee is $10. After Friday, May 4, fee will be $15. No race day registrations! Many thanks to Mrs. Lewia for the awesome job she does with Fun Run! Race day packets will be available for pickup 4:15 PM -7 PM on Thursday May 10 and Friday May 11.

Carnival! After the Fun Run, there will be GBE Spring Carnival and Silent Auction!

Saturday, May 12 from 10 AM – 2 PM.

Join us for a great time at the popular Spring Carnival and Silent Auction! There will be games of skill and luck, three exciting moon bounces, a Stuffed Animal Walk, a Cake Walk, yummy carnival food and a wonderful silent auction! There will be something for everyone to enjoy, rain or shine!

Silent Auction will be 10:00 AM – 1 PM and winners will be announced at 1:15.

Parents and guardians attend free. All children must be chaperoned by a parent or guardian.

All children 3 years and older must buy a wristband for entry.

Wristbands are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. You may also purchase tickets for food and the Cake Walk in advance to save money and avoid the lines at the door. Please see the reverse for a list of food prices, and information. We hope to see you there!

Cake Walk- One of the best fundraising parts of the Carnival is the Cake Walk. We need family participation in donating cakes for the Cake Walk. Our goal is to have 100 cakes to give away as prizes. All cakes need to be full size, in a disposable container, covered and labeled with what type of cake it is and if they contain any type of nuts. Please send items that do not require refrigeration.

We are asking that you deliver the cakes to GBE Friday, May 11, between 4:15 and 7 PM or Saturday, May 12 between 8 AM and 10 AM. Click here for more information.

Silent Auction- The best part of the Silent Auction are the class baskets. Every class has been assigned a theme and that theme is listed here. Please bring in items by Tuesday, May 8. Thank you so much for your assistance.

Also, if you have a small business, or know someone who does, please consider donating a product to the Silent Auction. All donations are tax-deductible and directly help the students here at GBE!
