GRACE Art in Schools Program
Greater Reston Arts Center - Art in Schools Program

About AIS
The The Art in the Schools (AIS) program was established in 1976 by Greater Reston Arts Center, to supplement and support local children's art experience in school. The program is based on in-class presentations of art historical subjects, followed by coordinating art projects. GBE PTA is pleased to fund and implement this program again this year.

Each grade gets to participate in  2 sessions per year.  Each session consists of a short Art History lesson followed by an exciting project related to the lesson.

Some of the famous artists we have explored previously have been Andy Warhol, Mary Cassett, Vincent Van Gogh, Escher and many others.

We need at least 4 volunteers in each classroom to assist with projects.

GBE Grace Arts presents the Sculpture Garden in April.
Our 6th, 4th and 1st grades will be attending the presentation and creating their own sculptures in the cafeteria.

 Below are the presentation dates.

In addition to the GRACE Arts presentations, we are looking for volunteers to help get ready for the upcoming GBE Art Show May 11th.
If you are available to help hang artwork in our GBE halls at your convenience, please let us know.
GRACE Arts will turn part of the cafeteria into an art gallery.

Volunteer opportunities include:
Set-up/clean-up
Present artist/project to students
Assist students
Simply be a part of your child's art experience

If you can volunteer for either grade, please let me know. If volunteers could come 15 min early to the presentation help set up, that would be great!
Thank you in advance for considering volunteering!!!!GBE Volunteers

The Art in the Schools program depends on volunteers from the PTA to implement these fun and educational events.  Each session takes approximately 60- 90 minutes.  You don't need to be an artist to volunteer for this exciting program and you never know what you might learn!
