About AIS
The The Art in the Schools (AIS) program was established in 1976 by Greater Reston Arts Center, to supplement and support local children's art experience in school. The program is based on in-class presentations of art historical subjects, followed by coordinating art projects. GBE PTA is pleased to fund and implement this program again this year.
Each grade gets to participate in 2 sessions per year. Each session consists of a short Art History lesson followed by an exciting project related to the lesson.
Some of the famous artists we have explored previously have been Andy Warhol, Mary Cassett, Vincent Van Gogh, Escher and many others.
GBE Volunteers
The Art in the Schools program depends on volunteers from the PTA to implement these fun and educational events. Each session takes approximately 90 minutes. You don't need to be an artist to volunteer for this exciting program and you never know what you might learn!
